Howdy! I was wondering if anyone knows where I might anonymous FTP to for
up-to-date 2-line keps data. Right now my local PBBS is down, and I had
a hunch that maybe they're available on the internet...

Hello Don,
Try "OrbiTrack," it's a shareware sat tracking programme for the Mac
and includes rotor control using the KR-101 interface.
You can download a copy from,
ftp.demon.co.uk /pub/ham/mac
You'll also find a pretty large selection of other Ham programmes for
the Mac in the same directory.
Regards,
Sean.

I've tried sat-trak-102 and OrbiTrack. Couldn't master the Keps for SatTrack
without reading the documentation, but had no trouble with OrbiTrack. I don't
think either will automatically drive your rotators.

To: ham-space@ucsd.edu
I'm having problems with my stsorbit programs. The programs won't
read files that I ftp to my local unix machine, and then z-modem to my
pc. I can do a screen capture, and after editing out the footers on each
page, the programs can find the kelp data ok. I can edit the kelp data so
that the files look identical, but the programs can only read the kelp
data transfered by the screen capture mode. Anybody know whats happening
here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Till later, Si B.

Yes, NOAA 10 & 12 are almost side-by-side now, and only approximately 3
minutes apart.

Subject: The HamSat Handbook- has the satellite Freqs ur looking for
To: ham-space@ucsd.edu
I've seen many posts over the months requesting satellite frequencies of
one satellite or another. I just got my copy of "The HamSat Handbook" by
Anthony R. "Tony" Curtis, K3RXK this morning. Flipping through this book
I am pleased to see an up to date (Feb 1993) description of all OSCAR
satellites, their history etc.
Chapter 1 covers the early history, titled "The First Space Satellites".
Chapter 2 "The Story of Orbital Satellites Carrying Amateur Radio"
discusses the history of all OSCARs to 1993+.
Chapter 3 is devoted to modes and frequencies used by the satellites.
(This would be the reference material that many are seeking, although
chapter 2 also provides a fair bit of good information).
Chapters 4 and 5 covers Space stations and SAREX.
And finally chapter 6 covers Balloons, meteors and EME etc.
To recap, if anyone wants more information on what's available up there,
I think that this is one very good source for amateur radio enthusiasts.

You might try Tiger Software at 800-238-4437. A catalog I received
from them listed such a CD. It is titled Murmers of Earth and comes in
DOS and Mac versions for $39.95 plus S&H. I don't work for the folks nor
have I ordered anything from them so can't recommend them either way.

They do in Houston. Had some fun stuff in the store.
Good Luck,
